A Must See!!! Through The Night @ Crossroads Theatre
Questions:
Do you look to be inspired?
Do you look to be uplifted?
Do great performances touch and move you in ways you can’t describe?
If you answered yes…I URGE you to visit the Crossroads Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ, tonight…or any night through February 21st.

Directed by Charles Randolph Wright.
So…my normal witty, clever, sarcastic, and overall masterful prose (that you regularly enjoy with this award winning blog) is put to the side today to focus on quite simply put, one of the most powerful and moving plays I’ve seen in quite a while. This play provided a backdrop to what turned out to be a very special and memorable weekend.
This is a one-man play where Daniel Beaty portrays 6 male characters ranging in age from 10-60ish. Eric, Tuan, Dray, Isaac, Mr. Rogers, and “Bishop”. Beaty bounces from each character at a feverish pace right from the beginning introducing to us their vibrant personalities and distinct backgrounds. It soon becomes evident that each character’s life is intertwined with each other’s. The underlying message begins to appear and then builds throughout while Beaty masterfully turns dialogue into spoken arias, sermons, spirituals, comedy, and poetry…all which bring chills, tears, laughs, and emotional applauses from the audience. One word…captivating. Each character was so real…so powerful…so alive…and all coming from one man, which was so amazing, that I lack the words to describe it. The set is simple. It forces you to become entrapped in Beaty’s storytelling. An entire world appears right in front of your eyes that does not physically exist…but exists within your imagination. When an artist of any kind can take you on such a journey, this is where you touch on something special, something magical…from the artist themselves…and from within yourself.
So I tell you, go…just go…and you WILL be uplifted…you WILL be inspired…and you WILL be moved in ways you can’t describe.

And…I’m still not home, but I’ve missed everyone sooooooooooooo much, and I care for you soooooooooo much, that I had to stop at a convenient wireless location (a bar.) to write for you.

It was a sunny and kind of mild Tuesday. A few clouds in the sky and folks were hustling and bustling about settling into yet another work week. Cubicles, lunch breaks, conference calls, and TPS reports are on everyone’s minds…but not the lonely bartender’s. He (or she) waits patiently, not bound by the structured daily grind…but bound by boredom…caused by your daily grind. The lonely bartender does not stop just because you are working. Sure it’s Tuesday, but find solace in the ideal of someone out there…out there, waiting for you…selflessly. Some of them do want your money, but really, what they want most is you. Like your eager to please, cute little puppy at home, they just want some company (I guess that analogy is a stretch, but whatever, I’m the artist here…not you!). Here’s what I urge you to do. When you exit your cubicle, then the parking garage, think of the lonely bartender. Maybe you wanna go visit one. Give them a hug. Humbly say thank you. So…today, Tuesday, go love a bartender…responsibly of course.

Again, this is definitely one of the most anticipated and hyped fights of the year and is expected to break pay per view records. Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is a Filipino fighter regarded as the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world by Ring Magazine. Dude’s a superstar in the Philippines and is also a part time actor and recording artist. Wanna see what he did to Ricky Hatton in his last fight?
Miguel Cotto is the WBO welterweight world champion. With a record of 34-1 and 27 KOs, Cotto is Puerto Rico’s brightest star and by far biggest draw in the ring. He has one successful title defense and puts his title back on the line tonight against a super fast Pacquiao.
In even more entertaining news, go ten rounds on Marc Ecko’s Complex.com blog where Filipina women go toe to toe with Puerto Rican women. Haha…gotta do something to keep your attention. I’ll admit, my writing was pretty dry on this post compared to my usual brilliant mastery of clever and witty anecdotes. I’m sorry, but not really…so get over it. Have a great Saturday!!!!!!

It’s Friday, and I’m tired of writing…wait, I didn’t really write more than two paragraphs today. Whatever…like you, I wanna go get started on my Sunday hangover.

Pacquiao vs. Cotto | Watch the fight at New Jersey Bars, Episode 3
Who’s wants to watch one of the biggest fights of the year in the confines of your favorite watering hole? I do!
Pacquiao vs. Cotto is one of the most anticipated fights of the year…its drawing international attention…and the powers that be are expecting the fight to set pay-per-view records. Just don’t expect the New Jersey bar scene to contribute to that record. There are very few New Jersey bars across the state where you’re going to find the world’s #1 pound for pound fighter matched up with the immensely popular Puerto Rican fighter Miguel Cotto. I’m not blaming bar owners by any means. It’s $$$. The UFC is extremely hot right now, and continues to gain speed, which is great…I love the UFC. But…it’s about 1/3 less the cost to get the UFC fights than boxing. Listen, I understand business, and I get it…but it’s just kinda sad.
Anyways, I’m done with my semi-rant, and I don’t want to get into digging up stats, trends, and all that crap. So…out of UpAfterDusk.com’s 105 or so bars and clubs, here’s watchu get for fight locations (luckily they are spread around the state a bit….north jerz…you’re outta luck…although, not an UpAterDusk.com bar, Tiffany’s in Pinebrook, Rt. 46 is carrying it)

Pacquiao vs. Cotto | Watch the fight at New Jersey Bars, episode 2
Who’s ready for Pacquiao vs. Cotto this Saturday? Should be a crazy, entertaining fight. Although boxing has seemed to be losing its popularity to the fast rising UFC over the years, there still will be some select New Jersey bars that will carry this pay per view. Stay tuned to us as we let ya know where to find the action.
I’ll have an in depth bio for each fighter, but here’s a little something to get ya going.
Introducing Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao. He is widely agreed to be the #1 pound for pound best fighter in the world. At 30 yrs old, he has already been a pro for 14 years. He is the first Filipino and Asian boxer to win 5 world titles in 5 different weight divisions!

Manny Pacquiao will fight Miguel Cotto this Saturday, November 14, at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas. This is definitely is the most anticipated fight of the year and will be an all out war!
The fight will be on HBO Pay Per View, so if you’re heading out to the bars Saturday, you gots ta know where to go son (or lady)! Well as always, we’re here to lead you in the right direction. Double Cross Vodka | “I Dream of Vodka” (and other stuff too)
So…what do you think is most appropriate to talk about on a gloomy Monday (post-Halloween party weekend) @ lunchtime?
Anyone who is one of our die hard facebook fans, UpAfterDusk.com blog fanatics, UpAfterDusk.com website groupies, or UpAfterDusk.com twitter cult followers knows the answer already…wait, can we (I) just pause for a second to sit back and treasure how ingeniously (and subtly) I’ve weaved endorsement of the UpAfterDusk.com brand into yet another post that is not about my awesome website to begin with. Ok, I’m done with feeling real good about myself now, and back on track. To bring you back up to speed: “Anyone who is one of our blah, blah, blah, blah, blah…knows the answer already…”
Booze.
Today is just an introduction to this vodka from Slovakia that many of you may not have heard of. It relatively new to the market, but is making a lot of waves, very quickly! In September 2009, Playboy magazine featured Double Cross Vodka. Here’s a snippet, “It’s rare we single out a vodka, but we’ll make an exception for Double Cross.” Hef’s magazine trumps all authoritative sources (at least in my life), so I’m paying attention. This stuff keeps winning awards and becoming known as the smoothest tasting stuff around. I know a lot of you hold onto my every word as scripture (kind of creepy by the way), so I’m not going to lie to you…I’ve tried it…and it is the best vodka I’ve tasted. And, ladies, Double Cross won’t have to court you too hard, this stuff is distilled through diamond dust…diamond dust!

Your Guide To Surviving This Monday | Post New Jersey Halloween 2009
I know this Monday in particular is probably tough on a lot of you. I mean come on, while you were eagerly following UpAfterDusk.com’s 40 kick ass Halloween Parties @ New Jersey bars and nightclubs (I’m way too good with shameless plugs…even on Mondays), you were celebrating Halloween Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. 100 UpAfterDusk.com points for anyone who can tell me when Halloween actually was? You know, someday, I’m going to actually figure out what “UpAfterDusk.com” points can be redeemed for…probably like a really cool turtleneck with our logo on it, but I’ll work on it. Then of course we all stumbled into our favorite bars on Sunday to spend all day watching football and then the World Series.
After all that, I almost forgot the point of this post, which you can refer to the title…I’m not repeating myself. I’m going to make this super, super simple.
1.) Suck it up for the rest of the work day…how? Figure it out for yourself.
2.) 6pm – 8pm : go to your computer with your dinner and check out Michael Duprey hosting The Escapism Session. It’s on Wheres The Culture Radio…http://www.wtchouseradio.com.
3.) 8pm + : settle into your snuggie and prepare yourself for another Yankee’s championship!
